Created by a hurricane on September 27, 1848 — pirate John Levique made the first passage through the new cut, and the name stuck. The village runs two levels of shops and restaurants along the water, with the fishing fleet and tour boats docked below.

Getting there

From St. Pete: Central Ave west to Treasure Island, then Gulf Blvd north over the John's Pass bridge.
From Clearwater: Gulf Blvd south through Indian Rocks and Redington Shores — about 25 minutes.
From Tampa: I-275 to SR-694 (Tom Stuart Causeway) west into Madeira Beach, then south on Gulf Blvd.

Parking

The John's Pass Village garage on 129th Ave is the closest covered parking — pay by app.
Surface lots on both sides of Gulf Blvd fill first on weekends; the garage almost always has a deck open.
Sunset is the busiest hour of the day. Park once and walk both boardwalks.

Know before you go

Both boardwalks connect — the north side is shops and rentals, the south side is where most restaurants sit.
Dolphin and shelling tours run all day from the docks under the village; last boats leave around sunset.
The beach access is a two-minute walk west of the village.
Festival weekends (Burger Week, seafood fest, pirate days) close parts of the boardwalk to carts — go early.
